Biography

Areas: 19th century popular performance, theatre history, Arab Theatre. He was the recipient of a Fulbright Award for the study of Arab theatre in Damascus, Syria during 1994-95. His dissertation was entitled, "The Invention of the Middle East in 19th Century Scene Painting and Mise en Scene." He has presented papers at the conferences of the American Society for Theatre Research, the Association for Theatre in Higher Education, and Performance Studies International.
