Biography
Designed sets and/or costumes for theatre, opera, dance, film, and television. His work has been seen on Broadway in Tribute (with Jack Lemmon), and Corpse (with Keith Baxter and Milo O’Shea) and as scenic designer for the musical Starmites. Has worked off and off-off-Broadway for the New York Shakespeare Festival and Andre Gregory’s Manhattan Project.
Across the country, has designed for the Guthrie Theatre, Hartford Stage, the McCarter Theatre, the Denver Center Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Syracuse Stage, the Hartman Theatre, the American Stage Festival, and Amherst College.
Has designed ballets for the Pennsylvania Ballet and operas in Houston, Texas; New York City; Washington, DC; Central City, Colorado; Norfolk, Virginia; and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Was assistant designer on the films The Wiz and The Muppets Take Manhattan and designer on TV shows The Doctors, Another World, Saturday Night Live, and Square One TV (Emmy Award).
As a fine arts painter, has had works exhibited in group shows at La MaMa Galleria, Leslie-Lohman Gallery, and Stony Brook Invitational and Art Group.
Awarded the David Payne-Carter Award for Teaching Excellence in 1996.
