Biography
Susan Grace Cohen
A graduate of the Juilliard School, Ms. Cohen is currently a faculty member (associate teacher) at NYU/Tisch School of the Arts, Film and TV Division. For seven years, she owned and operated a private acting studio in New York City. Ms Cohen teaches principals for Broadway and Off Broadway, Film and Television. She is author of BRIDGING THE GAP, STUDENT TO PROFESSIONAL ACTOR, and is a contributing essayist to SOUL OF THE AMERICAN ACTOR. Recently, Ms. Cohen received the James L. Hearst Guest Lecturer Award in the Arts and Humanities at the University of Northern Iowa. She has led workshops with Pace University, Miami Dade County College and The Bank Street College of Education. Ms. Cohen's former student's include James Gandolfini (Sopranos), Linda Hamilton (Terminators 1 & 2), Karen Allen (Raiders of the Lost Arc), James Spader (Sex, Lies and Videotape, The Practice, Boston Legal), Melora Walters (Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Big Love (HBO)), Mel Harris (thirtysomething), Justin Chambers (Grey's Anatomy), and Heather Juergensen (Kissing Jessica Stein). Ms. Cohen was a faculty member teaching acting at the Lee Strassberg Theatre Institute for over seventeen years, and recently returned in January, 2003. She is a member of The Players Club in New York and The Penn Club.
Ms. Cohen was recently acting coach on the feature film "PJ" starring John Heard.
