Biography
Accumulating over 30 years of professional experience in Europe, Hollywood and New York in all genres of film and television, Prof. Karl Bardosh has been an award-winning director, producer, writer, and editor of short features and documentaries. His work has received awards at the International Educational Film Festival, Tokyo (1969); 25th International Film Festival, Melbourne (1976); Best American Short Features, U.S. Film Festival (1977); International Rehabilitation Film Festival, New York (1982) (First Prize); American Film Festival (1985) (First Prize); Jerusalem International Film Festival (1990). Initiated the world's first film-aesthetical education series on a national television network (Hungary, 1967). 1992 to present: Hungarian American TV Producer/Director for PBS.
Current works include "Showmakers: The Pioneers of American Television," a pilot for a television documentary series; Forced March, a full-length feature; and World of Film, a documentary series on international film industries for PBS. 1997: Backstage at the Tony Awards - Multiple Camera Live Webcasting, Director; 1997-1998: Fallen Nest, full length feature - Co-Producer/Dramaturg; 1998: Mamet at the Atlantic Theatre - Multiple camera, big remote, Producer/Director; 1998: Static full length feature - Executive Producer, 1998; Santa Clause - Short feature (European Co-production), Director/Co-Producer. Member of the Programming Committee, Writers Guild of America; Blue Ribbon panelist of the NATAS Emmy Awards and the Student Academy Awards; panelist and member of the Screenwriting Committee, University Film and Video Association. 2002: Director/Co-Producer/Writer/ Supervising Editor of "The Sit Down", a one hour pilot for a 13 part reality entertainment television series. 2002-2003 Director/Co-Writer of "Bank Tellers in Love" - full length feature shot on digital video in and around Miami and Rio de Janeiro. Producer/Director of "Spheroid Memories" -half hour fine arts video essay on the global journey of the world reknown artist and performer, Angel Orensanz. The video opened the Austrian Bienalle, won a Prize of Excellence and was presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York for the National Association of Women Artists.
